How to Help Your Goods In Team

The goods in process is often underestimated. Receiving deliveries, checking them off, and putting stock away sounds simple—but in reality, it’s one of the most stressful and space-sensitive tasks in the warehouse.

Most wholesalers aren’t blessed with wide open floors and unused racking. Your team is usually balancing two pressures:

  1. Creating space for incoming stock
  2. Getting deliveries checked in quickly

If just one big delivery gets delayed or put off, the pressure builds fast—and that pressure quickly turns to frustration.

Here’s how you can support your Goods In team better:

Ask what slows them down – Some suppliers may deliver dozens of mixed SKUs that take far longer to check. Others may regularly arrive with with poor labelling or inconsistent packing.

Avoid supplier overlaps – Can you space deliveries out better? If supplier X always sends 10 pallets of mixed small items, try not to schedule the similar supplier Y the same day.

Provide extra help on big delivery days – One or two extra hands, even for an hour, can make a huge difference.

Speak to them directly – They know where the bottlenecks are. Most managers just never ask.

📌 Small improvements here reduce stress, speed up putaways, and make the whole warehouse run smoother.
