Reduce Those Monday Deliveries—Here’s Why

In wholesale, Monday is always chaos.

You’ve got a backlog of orders from the weekend. Pickers and packers are flat out. Customer service is chasing their tails. And yet, delivery lorries are pulling up with hundreds of SKUs ready to be checked in and put away.

Here’s the issue: your Goods In team is under-resourced on a Monday. Everyone else is tied up handling outbound volume, which means complex deliveries become a real problem.

If you want to keep things flowing smoothly, rethink what you accept on a Monday. Try to limit deliveries to:

• Full pallets of single SKUs
• High-volume lines that are easy to check off quickly
• Urgent replenishments only

Avoid mixed pallets with 100+ different products that require a team of people to check and sort. Save those for midweek, when the outbound rush is lighter and more support is available.

Talk to your suppliers—most are happy to shift delivery days if you explain why. And it’ll mean faster turnaround, fewer mistakes, and less stress.
